Why a USDT transfer needs Energy
A native TRX transfer is simple. A USDT transfer interacts with the Tether smart contract, which requires network computation. TRON measures that computation in Energy.
If the sending account has enough Energy, the transaction consumes it. If not, the protocol burns TRX to cover the missing resource.
65,000 or 130,000 Energy?
A typical USDT transfer needs about 65,000 Energy when the recipient already has a USDT balance. When the recipient has no USDT, creating its token balance entry requires more computation and the transfer may need about 130,000 Energy.
Recipient state can change. Check the destination address shortly before ordering.
How Energy delegation works
Another TRON account can delegate its network Energy to your active address without taking custody of your tokens. Your wallet remains under your control and uses the delegated resource when it sends the transaction.
Coinfira packages this delegation into an order: you specify the address and amount, then receive the Energy for the agreed usage period.
Energy, Bandwidth and TRX
Energy pays for smart-contract computation. Bandwidth pays for transaction data. TRX is the network coin and can be burned when an account lacks either resource.
For USDT transfers, Energy is usually the largest part of the cost, which is why arranging it before the transfer can reduce the total fee.
How the cost is calculated
The TRON network currently charges 100 sun, or 0.0001 TRX, for each missing unit of Energy. If a wallet has no available Energy, the protocol burns TRX using this rate.
- Energy amount
- 65,000 Energy
- Cost when TRX is burned
- 6.5 TRX
- Coinfira price
- 2.9 TRX
- You save
- 3.6 TRX (55.4%)
The “up to 65%” claim also reflects periods when Coinfira offers a reduced price. Actual Energy consumption and savings depend on the recipient state, smart-contract execution and current TRON network parameters.
